Teaching philosophy

My teaching style is mostly based on Communicative Approach (1980) since my purposes are to use the language, and learn about other cultures, and the book is leveled and graded for these purposes. I would like to teach four major skills of language (listening, reading, speaking, and writing, so this book is best, in integrating these skills for language learners. Despite the fact, the method provides real life contexts and situations where the students can predict the use of authentic language. There is no doubt that different situations and needs of life has contributed to the emergence of new approaches of language acquisition. This is very much true for specific class situations, that is, different class settings, individual differences, different levels and backgrounds of students require the use of other approaches next to the most used one. For this reason I would like to use some specific ideas and aspects of other approaches. For examples, for students who have problems in understanding meanings of vocabularies and some grammatical structures, I would use Comprehension Approach (1980) since it is best in addressing these problems deductively. Besides, other approach such as Affective Humanistic (1970) is also necessary when I want to motivate my students through some music, singing, games, and dancing. This would respect students' feelings. It also encourages and motivates them when they feel bored. For advanced level students, I may sometimes use approaches such as Direct Approach (1910) and Audio-lingual Approach (1940), especially when I want to focus on speaking or teaching grammar inductively. I am using these approaches, because I teach in high schools as well as sometimes in universities. To meet the needs of my students I can use group and pair working and diversities of activities that meet their needs.
